“The Huntley” is code for Balvenie. Without secondary bottlers I’d never be able to try a 25-year name brand scotch like this, much less at cask strength and no added color or chill filtering taking away the flavor. This bottle was a honeyed dram with a malty edge. Sláinte! Tony Nik’s Cafe is easily one of my favorite bars in SF’s North Beach. Opened in 1933 and remodeled to it’s still current look in 1949, it’s a cozy stylish joint with solid cocktails and guaranteed friendly bartenders. Cheers! I went to a tasting of Isle of Harris whiskies last year, a row of their standards. They were fine. But this single cask is a notch above. Robust vanilla paired with a range of stone fruits and easygoing maritime notes. Good stuff. Sláinte!
