When I want a momentary detour from whiskey, I make my way through the many recipes in Alice Lascelles’ excellent book on the Martini. This one is a variation on the Perfect Martini—2oz Botanist Dry gin, 0.25oz each of dry and sweet vermouth, stirred. This “Islay Mystery” was a cask strength single barrel of Ardbeg, aged 26 years. It was bottled by @klwines under their Faultline label. I do hope this early outing in their revived secondary bottling pursuits is a sign of more to come, because this bottle was incredible. Sláinte! Finally making my first foray into Ardnamurchan. I’ve sipped a few here and there but hadn’t yet brought a bottle home. And this 2025 10 Year makes a mighty impressive intro. It’s right up there with Springbank for complexity and balance. Sláinte!
