Last year I found a bunch of these 375ml bottles of 2003 Jim Beam 8 Year at a corner store and scooped them up. This bourbon is like a great dive bar in a glass. So glad I still have a handful of bottles on hand. Cheers! Here’s a riff on a riff on The Last Word cocktail. The Monte Cassino was created in 2010 at the bar Louis 649 in NYC to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Benedictine Liqueur. I subbed in Brucato Chaparral for Benedictine and Strega for Yellow Chartreuse and used a Willett cask strength rye and Meyer lemon juice. It’s a sweet herbal sensation. Cheers! Back in 2014 Willett’s Pure Kentucky XO was still 100% sourced. Since 2020 it’s been 100% Willett (and not so great). So they literally don’t make it like this anymore. I tried a pour on ice in a fancy glass but it doesn’t need any of that. This is the kind of bourbon you slam down in a saloon after a hard day’s ride or sip slowly under the night sky as you contemplate life’s rough trails. I dig it. Cheers!

Now also on THREADS and BLUESKY 🧵🦋🥃
